Sokbreker mengalami evolusi cukup pesat. Bila selama ini hanya dikenal peredam guncangan dalam bentuk seperti tabung yang memiliki as di tengahnya, kini makin beragam.

Istilah kerennya coil over shock-braker. Modelnya sama dengan sok biasa hanya saja sudah dilengkapi per keong (coil spring). Bentuknya yang ringkas karena coil spring sudah dibuat built-in dengan sokbreker.

Lantaran memiliki fungsi damping sekaligus rebound, sok jenis ini kerap diandalkan sebagai suspensi untuk aplikasi high performance. “Supensi jelas menjadi lebih keras, tetapi efek body roll menjadi minim,” papar Taqwa, tuner bengkel Garden Speed.

Correct Type for Correct Usage; The Key to a Comfortable Suspension

Shock absorbers have evolved rapidly over the years. What used to be known as something that absorbs wheel shocks in the form of a canister with a spear inside, there’s a full variety of them now.

The ‘cool term’ is the coilover shock absorbers. It looks somewhat the same as a regular shock absorber, the only difference is that coilovers have a coil spring built-in with the shock absorber. Which is also the reason why coilovers look more simplistic.

By functioning as a damper and rebound, this type of shock absorber is often used for high performance application. “The shocks might be noticeably harder, but body roll has been minimized greatly.” said Taqwa, tuner of Garden Speed.
